Who is God?

God waterWe would like to hear different view points from our readers for who is God?

Hanna Khan (former Momeen): says: September 2, 2015 at 1:44 am

I’m an extremely strong believer in God. I believe that God cannot be defined or contained by a Book. The Books are there for guidance, absorb the best part from all and leave the rest!

The eternal universality could be addressed by any name, Bhagwan, Allah, Jesus, Shmo, Buddha… and only the purity of heart is necessary to seek God, not the name/ methodology!

Each individual is born to a set of parents bound to a specific race, religion and nation‐ which one of the factor is decided by the human?

Normally a child from the indigenous clan cannot perform the puja as eloquently as a child born and brought up in an orthodox Hindu family, but does that in any way denigrate his stature in front of God or would his prayers be less valuable than that of the orthodox member? It was God who chose the circumstances of the children, in that case would He be cruel enough to value them differently?

Semitic Concept of hunting for the Truth: When every single parameter is decided by the Almighty, would it be reasonable that a boy born to Buddhist parents out of God’s Will, should hunt for the truth and move to Christianity or Islam and again someone born in Christianity should hunt for the truth and move to Islam, someone born in Islam should seek for the truth and end up in Christianity? Where would this cycle end?

Can an Eskimo be expected to hunt for God and end up with Islam or can an indigenous Saudi national explore and move to Hinduism? If such cases happen, they would come under ‘exception to the rule’ and not the rule by itself!

Darwin’s Big Bang theory, if true, then it must also be the Will of God!

God is not a human to categorize people as who has praised Him, how much has He been praised and about the mode of prayer! The Supreme Power judges according to the conduct of the individual and most definitely, never via the religion or race‐ an individual who spends his energy caring for the suffering is more pious than the one who spends the time praying, with the sole ambition of entering heaven!

Finally, handover Islam to Hindus and Hinduism to Muslim leaders: Islam would become an adorable, broadminded faith and Hinduism would end up as a spirit ‐destroying cult. Give Islam to Christian leaders and Christianity to Muslims, Islam would become a forward‐thinking, modern and elegant faith, producing world‐class innovators while Christianity would end up as a stone‐age era cult‐ The power of Leadership! -Momeen

Dear readers,
Like two sides of a coin, if good exists, then so does bad. If holy exsits then so does evil. If God exists then so does devil. Now my question is who decides what is evil and what is Godly? Religion? Just because some so called believers cause disturbances in the name of god, does that mean a particular religion is evil? No. One absolute truth is that god exists and our definations of him are to minute and agnorant to be accurate. Religion on the other hand is the road to God. By this I do not ask you to perform all the rights or join a religious cult. I mean is to believe in God. That above all God is in every atom and the whole universe is his mercy. Follow your religion for the pros and not the cons. After all all that our holy books say were rewritten by humans which accounts for our errors. Lets only concentrate on the goodness. And look at other religions as a different path to the all mighty. Lets not get into the battle of which religion is superior. God is watching you and me. Lets spread only love. So that when we meet God we can tell him how much good we did and received in This world.

Hi Fauziya, really happy for you that you have chosen to be with the guy who loves you. Follow Allah not any human beings words. After all prophrts are also human beings. Do good deeds and you go to heaven. If Islam was created by allah. Allah for sure wouldn’t havevcreated any other religion. Religion stuffs are all man made things. This is why I am now on spiritual path. Enjoy your life. All the best 🙂 -Ayaz

God in Arabic is Allah, in Shanskrit is Isvar and Jews call Him LORD God. So do you mean God, LORD God, or Isvara created every thing?

Allah says in the Quran in surah isra
        chapter 17 v 110
” Say, Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call – to Him belong the best names…”

however, Ishvara means supreme soul,Brahman(Highest Reality), ruler, king
if you say ishvara has forms then we muslims objects and more over going against veda

        Malinar states that inSamkhya-Yoga schools of Hinduism,Isvarais neither a creator-God, nor a savior-God
Patrick Olivellestates that there Ishvara does not mean God, but means Vedas.

The Rigveda gives several different attributes to Almighty God. Many of these are mentioned inRigveda Book 2 hymn 1
.Among the various attributes of God, one of the beautiful attributes mentioned in the Rigveda Book II hymn 1 verse 3, is Brahma. Brahma means ‘The Creator’. Translated into Arabic it means Khaaliq. Muslims can have no objection if Almighty God is referred to as Khaaliq or ‘Creator’ or Brahma.
However if it is said that Brahma is Almighty God who has four heads with each head having a crown, Muslims takestrong exception to it.Describing Almighty God in anthropomorphic terms also goes against the following verse of Yajurveda:

        “Na tasya Pratima asti”
“There is no image of Him.”
        [Yajurveda 32:3]

Another beautiful attribute of God mentioned in the Rigveda Book II hymn 1 verse 3 is Vishnu. Vishnu means ‘The Sustainer’. Translated into Arabic it means Rabb. Again, Muslims can have no objection if Almighty God is referred to as Rabb or ‘Sustainer’ or Vishnu.

Vishnu among Hindus, is that of a God who has four arms, with one of the right arms holding the Chakra, i.e. a discus and one of the left arms holdinga ‘conch shell’, or riding a bird or reclining on a snake couch. Muslims can never accept any image of God. As mentioned earlier this also goes againstSvetasvatara Upanishad Chapter 4 verse 19.

        “Na tasya pratima asti”
“There is no likeness of Him”

brother…we have 5 senses…eyes to see ears to hear tongue to taste nose to smell and skin to touch and perceive…u say god has no form I agree but I also agree that he has form…he is both personal and impersonal…if u say making idol of almighty is wrong which means limiting that god to our ordinary sense of eyes…I say calling him god ,Allah ,ishwar is also wrong as its also one of the way of making him limited to our ordinary sense of words and hearing…so never mention to we( ur Hindu brothers) that our Vedas says Natasha pratimah asti…and I know these words u put here are from zakir naik speech…try to find him ( Allah) realize him rather then reading or reciting books…they are of no use if u can’t realize the lord…in Vedas and also in geetha it is said ..( the way u approach me is the way u get me…lord says he is the thread which binds all the pearls( religions) of necklace….I wonder why can’t my father( lord) who gave me life who gave me everything who looks after me as a child won’t fulfill my desire of looking him in a idol in which I see him…he indeed is powerful and wonderful..who can bring even dead to life..then why u think he won’t manifest himself to a form for his loving children…I only suggest u never point defects…let’s believe every religion and every mode of worship is true…lord says as the rivers which flow in different paths reach the mother ocean we human preach him in various forms to reach him…on namah shivaya …may my father lord Shiva bless u

tell me how ur sixth sense is working…and if it works then in what way…I already I mentioned u never compare human love to gods …I wonder u stick on single word image is not required..my father(god) do not need a idol but I am a craving child to perceive him and realize him…and I need a idol which we make by our hands with love ….our commandments say he exists in all …and when u can realize him with in u…u can see him in everything…however to know this u must realize it just like to know the taste of a substance u have to personally taste it…my religion include dwaita ,advaita and vishistadwaita…and every one needs one of this and the uppermost is advaita ….which mentions lord is one and abodes in all …I must mention u great saying by swami Vivekananda…”there is no use of a religious book if it can’t help u to realize the lord”…try to realize his existence brother just like u realize the existence of air by its mesmerizing touch on ur skin…
