Dear Bharat, I strongly recommend you to watch the Bollywood film “Fiza”. It has many lessons for interfaith couples like you and me. In my humble opinion, you will never convince your parents if you stay in the same town you life in. I known India well enough to see how difficult this it. It’s best to get good jobs, move to another place like Bombay or Delhi or any big city where you are not answerable to anyone but yourselves, and then maybe your relationship can work. Otherwise it’s not worth losing the love and support of your parents over one girl. That being said, if you become a strong man like my husband and stand up for your girl, and she stands up for you, then maybe you can make it work. You are too young to think of marriage 🙂

    Hi Bharath,
It must be exciting to fall in love, this is wonderful. However, you have to realize that interfaith marriage will bring lots of problems for you in life. We are glad you are not in rush to get married and thus spend this time educating about interfaith marriage issues. Read all recommended articles above.

In India, there is no need to convert to any one. You could marry by the special marriage act 1954. Once you both finish college and have good paying jobs, you will be in much stronger position to do that is right to do. Best wishes.
