Hindu in a relationship with a Muslim Girl

Hi! Prateek,
I really appreciate your views about interfaith marriage. I should say it is down right practical and more human; after all we are humans first and no religion can supreme this. Every couple has the right of attaining their wishes. Must say I am in such situation as well.

I am in a relationship with a Muslim Girl and me I am a Hindu. To complicate it we are from different countries too. We started our relationship with no expectations of us being together and never worked on that. As we got closer we did start to think about the chances that we have of being together and they were and still are very faint. Now with this in mind my Girl friend has started to freak out that we might end up separated and says we must depart. As for me I will always keep faith in our love and I hope that all the little things will be alright and she will realise that our love matters more then what people have to say about us. I do hope that one day we shall overcome all the hurdles and make our wish come true.

P.S. I felt very overwhelmed after reading your thoughts, if only they were more people who would believe and share our thoughts. Humanity could over rule all the religions. Thank You. -Tej

Hi!
Sorry was away for a while, I must say that me and her we met recently and that was for the first time.
As said earlier and, what me and her are agreed upon after we met is that we are not planning anything ahead.
We both don’t know exactly where this relationship will take us. What we know is that we mean to cause no harm to any of our loved ones by this relationship. If it has ment to work in a smooth way it will or rest is upto fate. May some day each one of us realise the very essence of being a human. And know that humanity comes over every religion. -Tej

    In my all honesty,

If you are anywhere below 25-27 years old with little financial/career stability, I’d advice you against it. You have enough things to work on already.

At best I would say, wait it out. Give it time.

Long distance relationships on its own have a very low chance of success even for everything else going right for the couple. A person is more often than not different when you spend time in close proximity.

How long you have been in a (preferably non-long distance) relationship also matters highly to take such a decision.

If you don’t mind, which countries you both from? Where did you met? If she ask you to convert to Islam (required for Islamic Nikaah), would you do it?

it’s better I say not anything more about our personal details, just so I can protect her identity. But shall reply to your other queries. We both met on an online chat, I know it sounds silly but it was something unplanned and it did work out well for us to the point that we’ve gotten quite close. And for the next query, I should say firm that she would never ask me to convert to Islam, more over I would not support any such move either, because I believe in humanity, which is also the whole purpose of my previous post. I can turn my words into more philosophical but, I’d rather stay down right practical down to the earth. Realisation about humanity should start from inside of every soul and should reflect in a individuals action.

If you are not going to convert, means Islamic Nikaah is out for you guys. Is she willing to marry by a Hindu wedding? Or, are you considering a court marriage?

Thanks Tej for the update. Further, this “humanity comes over every religion” is only Hindus’ idea; for most Muslims, Islam is over rest of things.

Show us if any imam will perform Islamic wedding without conversion of Hindu. Conversions and expand Islam is the motto.
