Hindu-Christian Children be Confused?

Hi,

I am a Hindu and am in love with a Christian girl.

Our parents are not willing but will somehow accept the marriage. Between us we have agreed to follow our religions but for children, will imbibe Hinduism.

My concerns are as follows:

1. When we have a child, will the child become a confused one? Though, we have agreed on Hinduism, but once a while s/he may go to Church along with her/ grandparents and get confused between Hinduism and Christianity

2. Will there be problems at the time of marriage of our children? I have seen that children of inter religion marriages find it difficult to get an arrange proposal.

3. Once the initial Euphoria dies down, will we still be able to adjust.

4. I am an ardent Hindu but respect all religions. However, after marriage, I can no more go to my community temple, but can visit general temples.

5. Parents are still convincing me for arranged marriage. But I am not sure, if I can forget the time spent with my girlfriend and accept another girl. Also, there would be a guilt that I gave her hopes of marriage for the past 2 years.

6. I am totally confused. Both sides, there is compromise. Marrying my love will make me compromise the society, religious functions and marrying another girl will make me to compromise with her and get over the sweet memories that I had with my girlfriend. I am not able to decide, which is a better compromise.

7. I had an abusive past, where I was abused by a lady. ITs over now. But, My girlfriend knows it. Will she bring it up in future, when she is angry is also a worry.

Can someone help me to take a decision? -Akash

    Here are your answers:

    1. No. Click on Barack Obama’s photo above for an answer. They will know that dad is a Hindu and mom is Christian. They could go to temples on Saturday and church on Sunday. If one church or temple doesn’t like this deal, find another one. Simple!

    2. Interfaith marriages are ever increasing and after 30 years they will be even more accepted compared to today. You yourself are looking for an interfaith marriage then why are you considering arrange within faith marriage for children?

    3. A good question. Read all recommended articles above to make fully informed decision.

    5. As said above, no temple should stop you from visiting a temple because you married a Christian. If that is an issue, go to a next one.

    6. Do not make your decision out of guilt or obligation. It is better to decide (marry or separate from her) based on what each other want. Tell us what is best for you?

    6. Take a piece of papers and answer all question raised here.

7.Question is why she abused you? Why you reached to the stage where she will keep abusing you? Next time, act before it is too late. If you could do it, it should not be an issue in the future. It is good to have experiences, that should have prepared you better for your life.

    What else? Best wishes.

      Thanks for the response.

One more query: I am taking care of my parents completely – monetarily. If I marry against their request, will it mean insulting my parents or shaming them in the society

Regarding abuse, it was that the lady abused me when I was in teen. It went on for many years and then I somehow got out of it. But my girlfriend has suggested never to go/ settle in the town that the lady lived.
