Dear Admin,

I’m a Malaysian muslim girl who wants to get married with my non muslim boyfriend in Spain and decide to stay there and not coming back to Malaysia. I did some research and one of the requirements to get married in Spain by civil marriage is to provide the single status certificate. My question is, can a muslim apply for the single status certificate in Malaysia? because I’ve heard that it’s only for non muslim. Please help. Thank you. –Mary

Sharis Laws that all non-Muslims should know, Malaysia Marriage laws, A Hindu cannot marry a Malaysian Muslim, Singapore marriage laws, Indian marriage laws, DON’T Fake-convert (focus on Malaysia laws), Koran on Hindus?, Islamic Nikaah without conversion is not possible, Malaysia Muslim is not allowed Hindu wedding, InterfaithShaadi does not recommend this: I am in Singapore and married to a Muslim without conversion, Malaysia’s Sharia law costs non-Muslims their kids, Registration of marriage for non-Muslims in Malaysia (note: A confirmation letter from the respective government that the applicant is not a Muslim),

    Hi Mary,

You have never married and that is a fact. If so, why will a government not give a certificate that there is no marriage registered on your name? They may raise a question why you need this certificate, and find some good answer for it. We do not know of any specific restriction so ask one of Muslim friends to go and ask this question for you (to protect you).

We assume the guy is Christian. How are you planning to get married, in Church? It is possible the church will ask you to convert to Christianity, are you okay with it? Are you okay teaching your children that Jesus is a Son of Allah?
