Malaysian Muslim non-Muslim Love Relationship

Lala says: April 22, 2017 at 11:28 pm

Hi ? I would love to know what was the solution as I am in similar situation. Hope to hear your reply.

A non Muslim Malaysian staying in Singapore. I know civil marriage is allowed here. But what happens when you need to renew your passport? Or when you have kids? Would you be able to go back to Malaysia to visit? Would you need to go back seperately?

If the authority finds out, what would be the worst thing that could happen? Both Malaysians. One is Muslim and the other is non Muslim.

    Dear Lala,
You are certainly in deep water if you go to settle in Malaysia. Marry to this guy only if you don’t want to return to Malaysia. Sorry to bring all these bad news to you.

    Read these…
A marriage registered under the laws of a foreign country must be re-registered at the Malaysian Representative Office within 6 months of the date of marriage. If a couple having married outside Malaysia will not be able to register their Muslim to non-Muslim marriage in Malaysia and their children will not have benefit of Malaysian citizenship (read). If the Muslim/non-Muslim couple married overseas and comes to Malaysia, and someone called the authorities on them, the Syariah Authority will likely arrest the Muslim partner for zina and khalwat (since the marriage is not recognized in Malaysia; read)

Please do not fake-convert to Islam because you will be creating deeper trouble in life. Let us know what else we can tell you?

Thanks so much. But if you reside in another country? Are we considered married when we need to tick the forms when we renew our passports and all?

Can you get passport of Singapore? If yes, then you don’t have to worry about Malaysia, except traveling.

Probably yes in the future but till then, would you be considered married when you have to fill in the form at the embassy as you renew your passport?

Would you be able to go back for holidays seperately?

We must remind you that we are not legal authority and not from your region. We provide comment based on what we learned from others.

For any country, you need to provide 100% truth to any submitted document. If not, for falsification, they can deny you renewal. Plan not to say any thing wrong.

Is your friend okay you not converting to Islam? Have you talk to his parents? If not, he can change his mind.
