We are taught to respect elders, obey elders. But don’t know why this people going in a wrong way. No one can force anyone to convert their religion.

There is no question of converting anyone. Guys wake up their is only one God, Some says Allah Some says Bhagwan Says God, Prabhu, Deva and etc respect them all. -Khairum

Just for marrying you are reverting (faking conversion) …it won’t help , even if you revert your current wife still can sue you ,you will be easily trapped on two sides …its your life do whatever you want but don’t rush on decision think wisely , it would be better to get divorce first

I am a 42 year old Hindu, got into an arranged marriage in 1998. Unfortunately the marriage was a disaster from start. Just trying to make it work, spent ten years in that marriage. My wife and me slowly graduated in those ten years from arguments behind close doors to openly abusing each other in front of family and finally to exchanging blows. Since 2009 me and my wife have been living separately. I had demanded a divorce which she refused and left to live with her parents leaving both son and daughter with me. Last five years the children have been with me being brought up with all love and affection by my grand parents.
I have tried to reason with my to part ways peacefully and start a new life but she accuses, abuses and blames my whole family for everything. She repeatedly tells me that she will never let me go as she does not want me to have a free life.
Unfortunately Hindu marriage act is completely pro women and plight of genuine men is completely ignored. I have no grudges and just want my freedom and my life back. After waiting for five years of constant abuse and accusations at hands of my wife, I want to move on desperately.
As she is determined not let me go because she doesn’t want me to get married again, I am stuck. Can I convert to Islam and marry again. I respect all religions and follow none in particular, with all due respect to Islam, I do not intend to use it only as a means to freedom but also have started reading Quran so as I understand the faith I am wanting to adopt.
What can be fall outs if I convert to Islam and get married again. Does it only have to be a Muslim girl after I convert. What kind of legal hassles can my first wife create. I just want to restart my life and lead my life peacefully away from any fights or controversies. Please guide me .

There is no easy option. You will have to deal with your spouse and obtain divorce legally. Converting to Islam to get married will NOT solve your problem.
