Hi I’m Karen from Canada. I met my twinflame (ultimate soulmate) and he is Muslim. I believe in One God. My father is Sikh and my mother is from Guyana and half her family is Hindu and half is Muslim. Some is Christian. I know so many Sikhs marrying Muslims. Some parents are ok some not.

I do not condone Sikhs thinking their religion is superior. All religions lead to God and I feel like Sikhs bash other religions the most when that is against Sikhism. I think everything is ok as long as two people love each other. God is Love. -Karen

    Hi all,

I am a 25 year old guy from England. I have been with my girlfriend who is Sikh for 6 years. To cut a long story short, we wanted to get married recently, but due to the religious differences it was difficult for us. She has always taught me about Sikhism, I started learning slowly. We came to a conclusion if we wanted to get married I would have to convert. So, now, here I am, I converted in December 2014, I have not opened up to my family yet, nor have I been openly practising. We are getting married at the end of 2015, I am going to Gurdwara in a few months to pray with my Girlfriend, her family have been supportive and so has she. My only problem is how will I tell my family?

He doesn’t want to change he’s religion because he’s parents thought him and he wants me to Change my religion to Sikh… I was thinking, I stopped talking to him but I couldn’t because I love him so much. “He is Allah beside whom there is none worthy of worship, The King, The Holy, The Peace, The Watcher, The Almighty, The Compeller, The Supreme. Glory be to Allah, He is above all that they try to associate with Him as partners.” [Holy Quran 59:23]

By the way everyone saying all these things about Islam like it’s all about killing, murdering, raping, against humanity, need to research it themself cause that’s all you are focusing on. Not the teachings and whats in the Holy Quran. So instead of judging something without knowledge, educate yourself. Any person of any religion is capable of murder, rape, etc. Hate doesn’t get you anywhere in life. This life is a test, and everyone is too concerned with everyone else opinion when only God’s opinion matters. Live your truth.

A great point. There are good and bad people in all faiths. For an individual, it is important to make fully informed decision for what type of person you are dealing with.

The man I’m with, his mom is Christian so his mom didn’t convert, his parents are separated.

A Christian is a person of “BOOK” and may not have to convert but not true for a Hindu (or Sikh?). For a Hindu (and a Sikh?), Nikaah means conversion, no way around it. Let us know what is truth in your situation. If that is the case, simply go for the court marriage, problems solved.

My mom has been following Sikhism, but she still goes to everything religious function she is invited to. All of the interfaith marriages that I know about, no one has converted and some couples have double weddings, a Nikkah and the Sikh marriage ceremony. I wish for my children to be free spirited and make their own decisions. As long as my children grow up to be good people.

We love this, “she still goes to everything religious function she is invited to”, this is pluralism and that is our core message.

Another superb point is “my children to be free spirited and make their own decisions”, again, that is the way it should be, why not? On this point, can you review this our video and provide your input? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvZSqdmnxKM

    Hi Karen,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful multifaith life experience. We would love to hear more from you. What did your mom taught you for who is God? Was she following Sikhism, Hinduism or Islam?

You said, “I know so many Sikhs marrying Muslims”, do you know if most of them converted to Sikhism or to Islam? Are you okay if you have to convert to Islam (necessary for Nikaah) and raise children Muslim only? Or, you wish them to be free spirited and make decision for their life as an adult?
